Hey mate! I found your analysis interesting, however, I’d urge you to reconsider your appointment of the speaker as a woman of Jewish faith. I’m not sure what led you to this conclusion - that Plath’s use of Holocaust imagery means she has adopted a Jewish perspective because Jews are defined by being victims in this genocide? I hardly agree with this - or with the idea that Plath describing her skin as a ‘Nazi lampshade’ means the speaker of this poem is a Jew. I would suggest you consider that using the murder of six million people as a metaphor for one’s own suffering is effective yet highly inappropriate. Plath must have been aware of the negative reception of this imagery in the 1960s world awakening to the horrors of the Holocaust. Is she actively trying to turn the reader against her through this shocking language? Is this imagery a conscious expression of self-hatred or simply a naïve attempt to express her suffering on a grand scale.

If you ask most people today 'What will the future be like in 2074?' the answer will most likely be negative and dystopian with a few outliers pushing a hopeful alternative, and this would surprise nobody. If you ask 'What will poetry be like in 2074?' well, that might generate deeper thinking on subjects like education, media technology, working hours and free time, and the ways in which poetry is written. Regardless of what kind of answers you get, and what the realities of poetry in 2074 will be, by at least asking the question I think would show how just the concept of poetry is enough to encourage deeper thinking, poetry never fails.

I got about 25 pages into the book. I don't know why, but I really don't like it. Maybe I'm too autistic to enjoy it. "People are stupid" satire, to me, is one of the lowest forms of humor. Yeah, I know, people are stupid. I observe other people and it's obvious. Giving me more stupid people to look at, even in a book, is just giving me a bad time. Also, the prose doesn't stick with me. The writing style gives the impression of someone who sniffs their own farts. I actively have a bad time when I read this book. It makes me angry and I don't like it.

Would you ever consider reading the novella The Necrophiliac by Gabrielle Wittkop? I think this book may be something of an unsung masterpiece. Very short read. The copy I'm reading online is 107 pages. I think it's an excellent meditation on death and how fleeting time is, amongst many other themes. The book can be found for free on Archive if you didn't want to go through the hassle of buying a copy of it. Though I do think it is worth the buy.

Maybe not the same, but pig and star could be symbols to consciousness and the subconscious, the star being aware of the pig, and the pig only indirectly aware of the star by means of interacting with the pool (and indirectly interacting with the star's reflection). Verbalising the full transposition of concepts: the pool can represent the body. The consciousness reflecting upon the body and the pig, the subconscious, the ego, the driving force, directly splashing upon the body the filth and the pleasure. The star, or the consciousness, hiding pale, is akin to us hiding in shame, trying desperately to make our most animalistic characterisrics unseen, making ourselves unseen in the process. The poem doesn't offer a way out to reconcile both but I will risk a suggestion. What if that encounter happens every evening? What if the pig also grows tired of all the splashing and churning? What if it stops, and looks upon the pool reflective surface and finally sees the reflection of the star in wonder? Will the pig be the same? Will the star be the same? They will join once again, the pig having the need to bathe, but seeing each other in themselves by the means of the pool, the body, they will do so now with renewed respect and oneness to one another.

I think it's okay to make the distinction between complex literature, simple literature, and bad literature. I agree that just because something is simple doesn't mean it should be disregarded and treated like bad literature. Even "bad literature" holds value, but it's much more along the lines of providing material to learn from, like Holly by Steven King. Lol. I hate Rupi Karr's poetry. Some of it is simple, and you make a great argument for it here. Some of it is straight up bad, and I think it might be misdirecting people towards literature more than it shepards them to it.

13:17 thats not derrida that structuralism in general the Practical usage of words ( meaning) is from the system in general so just like with in a dictionary words are related together web-like, think of spider web they are associative bondings so u think of pepper, pepper is associated with salt is associated with White is associated with .... but they're also categorizations so you have conjunctive thought you have implicative thoughts you have ... the basic form is that of identity sameness and not sameness difference so you get strong Association related identity difference to words irrespective to the soundness of the meanings by it self in fact it does not exist by it self

I think Dalton's desire to see a grand and bloody ending in which the pigs slaughter the farm animals (and subsequently the basis of their power) would make sense, were Animal Farm a criticism of becoming powerful, i.e. 'This is what happens if YOU take power too far' but that's not the purpose of the novel. The warning of Animal Farm is to revolutionaries and political idealists who inadvertantly allow for 'Pigs' to arise within their movements, so the ending has to be one of greater fear to the followers than the leaders in this context.

your thoughts on the 'never leaving home' is intriguing to me. I was born in 1975, and moved once a year or so and so never had the concept of "home" as a place...so I never had that fear, but I am fascinated by the idea and by the people who have never lived, gone, experienced more than 15 miles or so from their home. Thought-provoking as always, friend
